How to wash plastic windows after renovation
Cleaning up windows after installation or repair is fundamentally different from seasonal cleaning. During the work, drops of paint, cement, and polyurethane foam fall on the glass, frames and window sills.There are traces of tape left on them. To wash it all off, you need general cleaning , which you can do yourself or use the services of a cleaning company.
Cleaning windows from tape
If after installation it was not possible to immediately free the frames from the protective film, then it may stick strongly to the surface. The same situation arises when, during repairs, windows are covered with tape or masking tape for a long time. First, you should try to remove marks with hot water using a sponge with an abrasive surface. If this method does not help, then you can use nail polish remover or alcohol.
Removing cement mortar residues
First, the windows should be brushed and vacuumed. Pieces that are not very stuck will fall off on their own. A special product can be used to remove remaining cement contaminants. It should not contain aggressive acid that can damage plastic surfaces. The solution is applied to the contaminated areas and left for some time. Once cement stains have softened, they should be removed with a soft, damp cloth. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated. The cleaning agent can be replaced with vinegar essence, slightly diluted with water.
Cleaning windows from traces of paint
Do not use a blade or knife to remove such stains. These tools can scratch glass and plastic. The method for removing stains depends on the type of paint. Water-based compositions are washed with hot water. Enamels, oil and other paints are removed from glass with an appropriate solvent, and from plastic frames and window sills – with turpentine.
After removing all difficult contaminants, the windows are washed as usual. If scratches appear on the frame or window sill, they can be treated with a special polish. Execute cleaning after repairing it yourself is not an easy task, so it is better to use the services of a special company.
