Food combining has gained widespread popularity in recent times. It involves structuring your diet so that the digestion times of the various food components are approximately equal. It is not easy to combine and select foods that are not only appropriate but also nutritious.

Like any other dietary approach, the food combining method has its own rules and recommendations. It is recommended to avoid drinking water during meals. It is better to drink water before or some time after eating. Food should be chewed thoroughly, and the temperature of the meal should be around room temperature.

The diet is based on raw vegetables, fruits, berries, and salads, which are eaten before the main course. They promote the effective absorption of the main ingredients. Food combining excludes the following foods: sugar, coffee, fatty and fried foods, sausage, mayonnaise, and canned foods. There should be a short interval between meals to allow food to be digested and prevent overloading the stomach.

It is also not recommended to consume the following food combinations: acidic and protein-rich foods, acidic and carbohydrate-rich foods, fatty and protein-rich foods, fruits and proteins, and sugar with starch. Melon, apples, and milk should be eaten separately from other foods. The food combining method has a positive effect on the body’s functioning. When processing such foods, the body accumulates virtually no waste products, and significantly less energy is expended on digestion. Nutrients are absorbed more efficiently, and consequently, the amount of beneficial compounds entering the body with food increases.

Food combining improves the functioning of the digestive organs and reduces the occurrence of negative symptoms associated with poor nutrition, such as heartburn, bloating, constipation, and pain in the intestines and stomach. This dietary method helps reduce body size and weight, as well as the amount of toxins. Food combining helps patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases and digestive tract disorders.

A distinctive feature of food combining is the wide selection and variety of foods which can be included in your daily diet; the key is to combine them properly. Like any other method, food combining has some drawbacks. Prepared meals aren’t always very flavorful, each person’s body reacts differently to changes in diet, and the pancreas’s function can be disrupted.
